The community health centers of Cumberland Family Medical Center, Inc. (CFMC) were recently recognized by the Health Resource Service Administration (HRSA) as a “National Quality Leader.” CFMC was the only National Quality Leader designee in Kentucky and one of only 57 nation-wide to receive this distinction for their quality of patient care. This recognition places the clinics of CFMC in the top 1-2% of all Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) in the nation.
To qualify for this distinction, community health centers must exceed national clinical benchmarks (Healthy People 2020 objectives and health center national averages) for chronic disease management, preventative care, and perinatal/prenatal care. According to a news release by Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell, community health centers in this category demonstrate the critical role that health centers play in promoting high quality health care nationwide.
In addition to the National Quality Leader distinction, CFMC was also recognized as a “Clinical Quality Improver” by demonstrating at least a 10% improvement in clinical quality measures showing a significant improvement in the health of the patients they serve.
